If you live in Greeley, you already know the summer rhythm. Friday nights belong to the 9th Street Plaza. Saturdays start at the farmers' market. The Friday Night Your Plaza Goes Dark
The single most useful thing to know about this weekend: the Friday Fest weekly concert series continues every Friday night through Aug. 7, excluding July 3. If your household treats the plaza like a standing appointment, that appointment is cancelled. The Go-Cup District rules still apply on the surrounding blocks, but the stage and the crowd that usually anchor 9th Street will not be there.
What replaces it is a block east. On Friday from 5 to 9 p.m., the Moxi Theater at 802 9th St. hosts an Independence Day car show and concert in downtown Greeley. It is a smaller footprint than Friday Fest, which is worth planning for if you usually count on the plaza's space to spread out. Bring folding chairs earlier than you would for a normal Friday.
If you want the full Stampede that night, the gates at Island Grove Regional Park are open. The 104th annual Greeley Stampede opens Wednesday, June 24, and runs through Sunday, July 5, and the 2026 Superstars Series concert schedule features Nelly, Brothers Osborne, Dierks Bentley, Jake Owen, Nate Smith and more. The park stage lineup is included with admission, not a separate ticket. Everclear, Rhett Walker, Aaron Watson, Conchren & Co., Blake Whiten, Joe Nichols, De Parranda and La Zenda Norteña will perform on the Park Stage located at Island Grove Regional Park.
Saturday Morning, In Order
Independence Day itself is a stacked morning. Reading it as a single sequence rather than three separate events is what keeps you from missing the parts locals actually plan around.

The 5K is the piece that surprises newer residents. The Fourth of July 5K walk and run runs along the Greeley Stampede Independence Day parade route from 7 a.m. to noon, meeting at the intersection of 15th St. and 10th Ave. If you live within a few blocks of 10th, the practical read is that your morning street access is going to be limited from dawn until at least midday. Move your car the night before if you need it out.
The parade itself is not a small-town affair. The 2026 Greeley Stampede Independence Day Parade steps off at 9 a.m. Saturday, starting on the University of Northern Colorado campus at 10th Avenue and Crawford Place, running east along 10th Avenue to 7th Street at Lincoln Park. More than 130 floats, marching bands and equestrians from around Colorado and surrounding states use that corridor. If you cannot be there in person, the parade will air live on KTVD and the 9NEWS app on Saturday, July 4, at 9 a.m.
Why This Year's Parade Reads A Little Different
The 250th anniversary changes the tone. The parade returns to the streets of Greeley Saturday morning as the United States of America celebrates its 250th birthday, and the grand marshal choice reflects that. Organizers said in a statement:

If you have watched the parade for years, the practical difference this year is scale. Larger crowds along the route mean earlier arrival for a curb spot, and it means the Lincoln Park end of the route fills up faster than the UNC end. Locals who want shade tend to walk the route backward from Lincoln Park.
What's Still Running Through Sunday
The parade is the marquee, but the Stampede does not close until Sunday night. If your Fourth is spoken for by family visits or a quieter morning at home, Saturday afternoon and Sunday are the real windows.
A few pieces of the schedule worth flagging:
- The Independence Day fireworks. The show that closes out Saturday night is at Island Grove. The 10-plus day celebration culminates on the 4th of July, starting the day with Colorado's largest Independence Day parade then ending the night with a spectacular fireworks show.
- Rodeo through Sunday. The 104th annual Greeley Stampede runs through Sunday, July 5. If crowds on the 4th itself are not your thing, Sunday performances are typically the calmest of the run.
- What is on the grounds beyond the rodeo. The Stampede's schedule includes top ranked PRCA ProRodeos, kids' entertainment, Heritage of Mexico rodeo, three music stages, parades, carnival rides, demolition derby, craft beer lounge, special events, shopping, festival food and more. Three separate music stages is more than most attendees realize on their first visit. It is also why picking a meeting spot before you enter matters.
The Downtown Piece Most People Miss
Even with Friday Fest dark on July 3, downtown is not empty. Event attendees can carry and enjoy alcoholic beverages while walking through the plaza during the event, thanks to Greeley's first-in-Colorado Go-Cup District status, and that status is not limited to Friday Fest nights. The plaza and the surrounding restaurants still operate under it. If your plan is a low-key evening downtown before the parade morning, the block around the Moxi car show is where the density will be.
A note for households with kids or dogs: the Saturday morning parade route is a hard road closure for hours, but the sidewalks along 10th open back up quickly once the last float passes 7th Street. If you want the parade experience without the deep-crowd part, the tail end at Lincoln Park clears faster than the UNC end.
The Weekend, Compressed
Read against a normal Greeley summer week, three things are different this weekend and only this weekend:
- Your Friday plaza night is not happening. The concert lineup skips July 3 on purpose.
- Your Saturday morning north-south crossings of 10th Avenue are gone from roughly 7 a.m. to late morning, first for the 5K and then for the parade.
- Island Grove, which most weeks is a park you use for the splash pad or the trails, is the center of the city for four straight days.
Everything else, the farmers' market on 7th Street on the north side of Lincoln Park, Discovery Bay, the trails at Sanborn and Arroyos del Sol, keeps running on its normal cadence. If your household already has a summer rhythm here, you are not rebuilding it. You are working around one very loud weekend.

The Stampede packs up Sunday night. Friday Fest resumes the following week.
